Great Britain Extreme Points
Many climb Ben Nevis, in search of a challenge. Others test their endurance by completing a Lands End to John O’Groats challenge. I decided to set myself an even greater goal.
On Thursday 25th August, after leaving my home near York, I drove 420 miles south to Land’s End, Cornwall to start my extreme adventure. My challenge was to become the first person to make the 2,700 mile journey, sleeping at each of the 6 extreme points of Great Britain, solo, on 6 consecutive nights.
Between Lands End and John O’Groats this is the extreme point route that I took:
Thursday 25th/Friday 26th – Southernmost point GB – Lizard Point, Cornwall
Friday 26th /Saturday 27th – Lowest point GB – Holme Fen, Huntingdonshire
Saturday 27th/Sunday 28th – Easternmost point GB – Lowestoft Ness, Suffolk
Sunday 28th/Monday 29th – Westernmost point GB – Corrachadh Mor, Argyllshire
Monday 29th/Tuesday 30th – Northernmost point GB – Dunnet Head, Caithness
Tuesday 30th/Wednesday31st – Highest point GB – Ben Nevis, Inverness-shire
The following photos are from each of the six extreme points of Great Britain:
South - Lizard Point
Lowest - Holme Fen
East - Lowestoft Ness
West - Corrachadh Mor
North - Dunnet Head
Highest - Ben Nevis
When time permits I will share further information about this fantastic adventure.
